EDP Renewables (‘EDPR’) is the fourth largest renewable energy producer in the world and has expanded UK operations from its base in Edinburgh. The company has a growing wind and solar portfolio in the UK in excess of 540MW managed by the Edinburgh based team. The portfolio includes one operating wind farm and several projects under advanced stages of development, which will be participating in future CfD rounds and in the UK private PPA market, aiming to commence commercial operation in the next few years. Other projects are at earlier stages of development.
Furthermore, the Edinburgh onshore team reinforces EDP Renewable’s commitment in the UK, diversifying and complementing its longstanding presence in offshore wind, where it currently has 1 GW of offshore capacity under construction and 0.9 GW under development, through Ocean Winds which is a joint venture between EDP Renewables and ENGIE.
Community benefit is a cornerstone of the company’s approach to development and the team is committed to involving local communities in the vicinity of our developments in creative and meaningful ways. The Lurg Hill Wind Farm will provide a community benefit package of £5,000 per MW per year, with an independent community organisation assessing funding applications from local projects. This will represent a total investment of £2.5m over the wind farm’s 35-years lifespan.
